As the 2022-2023, NHL season has rolled along, and the winless streaks and losing streaks continue the Philadelphia Flyers continue to miss out on opportunities to improve their team due to the mismanagement of their contracts.
Over the last number of weeks, several players have been made available through the waiver wire and could have helped this team, paralyzed with injuries. Unfortunately, the Flyers have been handcuffed owning 50 contracts out of 50 which prevents them from acquiring any help through waivers.
Names such as Wayne Simmonds, Eeli Tolvanen, Alex Galchenyuk, and Martin Kaut could have been options to at least examine to see a possible fit. Even newly signed PTO Artem Anisimov is unable to join the team due to this problem.
It certainly begs the question, should Flyers ownership continue with this management team, and can it fix the problems that face them? only time will tell.
