As the Flyers continued to enjoy this surprising and enjoyable season, team management has been doing their evaluations and preparing their plans for the NHL trade deadline which will happen in early March.

With the success the team is having it's giving head coach John Tortorella and general manager Danny Briere a chance to showcase their players to other teams.
Prior to last night's game against the Stars, Jordan hall of NBC tweet it out that the Flyers decided to scratch rookie Bobby brink and allow Nick Deslauriers and Marc Staal to remain on the roster.

As the NHL rumors continue to ramp up, players like Staal, Sean Walker and Nick Seeler will be trading targets from several teams. Many contenders will be looking for a defenseman and bottom 6 forwards to help their chances for a deep playoff run.
Scratching Brink and allowing the veteran players to play is needed as the Flyers are trying to sell off some of their talent. It's a wise move as it's highly likely these players will not be retained long term, and the Flyers can acquire more assets to help bring in new talent for the coming years.
I would expect that brink would see more ice time after the trade deadline as some of the veterans will be removed. This would allow him to develop more and help craft his game. Depending on how deep the sell off is, it's possible that Brink along with Tyson Foerster and the rest of the Flyers could see playoff action.
As it stands now, the Flyers are in a playoff spot and nipping at the heels of the New York Rangers for top spot in the Metro division.
