The Philadelphia Flyers made a lot of moves this past season, one of them being the dismissal of forward Nicholas Aube-Kubel, a long-time Philadelphia Flyers of four years who was drafted forty-eighth overall in the 2014 NHL entry draft.

Why didn't Aube-Kubel fit with the Flyers? The young forward did not keep up with the pace that the NHL plays at, and as a result of him being one step behind at most times, a lot of penalties were taken. For reference Kubel tallied up 44 penalty minutes in just 50 games played with the Flyers in the 2020-21 season.
Kubel was placed on waivers by the Flyers, and was quickly picked up by the powerhouse of the NHL, the Colorado Avalanche. Kubel would go on to play the most he ever has within a NHL year, with a total of 67 games played on the Colorado Avalanches roster full-time.

With a team as good as the Avalanche, the 25-year old forward did not show up on the score sheet as much as he should have, but his confidence surely grew on himself. Kubel took place in 6 playoff games, and played a key contribution towards the high-intensity play that comes with the NHL playoffs each year. The Avalanche went on to win the Stanley Cup, and it was clearly the highlight of ''NAKS'' career.

Kubel was on a short-term, one year deal with the Avalanche and after the cup win, he was not re-signed. The Toronto Maple Leafs quickly picked him up, but has yet to give him a full-time roster spot. After playing six games throughout the Leafs 10 so far this season, Kubel was placed on waivers and is expected to quickly be picked up by a NHL organization for one more shot at the ''big leagues''.
Should the Flyers inquire about Aube-Kubel?
