It's a sad story.

Do you remember the Ryan Ellis trade? Chuck Fletcher gave up Nolan Patrick (who was then traded to the Golden Knights) and defenseman Philippe Myers to obtain the services of Ellis.
However, Myers' stint in Nashville hasn't gone well. He played 27 games this year with the Predators before being put on waivers. He then joined the Toronto Marlies to finish the season in the AHL.
Myers is still the property of the Predators, but it seems like his adventure in Nashville could end rather sooner than later. According to Frank Seravalli, Myers is a legitimate candidate to be traded this summer, as the insider put him in 10th place in his "Trade Targets".
"Why Myers, a player who has already passed through waivers? Myers represents a unique and quirky opportunity for a cap-strapped team that can trade for him and actually create salary cap space with a buyout. Because Myers is 25 and his deal is backloaded, his buyout would result in a $616,666 credit on next season's cap, followed by a $633,334 charge the following season. This has happened before (see: Jared Cowen in 2016) and the Toronto Maple Leafs pounced on the deal," wrote Seravalli.
