As of this writing the Flyers have definitely made out as the winners of this trade. Provorov was not happy in Philly, which was a reason it was so surprising at the return GM Danny Briere was able to get for him.
The Blue Jackets are way behind the surprising Flyers in the standings and are going to be sellers at the trade deadline. NHL Insider Darren Dreger has said that the Blue Jackets GM is open to moving some big players, like Patrick Laine and Ivan Provorov.
"Jarmo Kekalainen, the general manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets, is willing to listen on a couple of big-name guys, like Patrik Laine and Ivan Provorov, and there are others," Dreger said.
Provorov to date has 4 goals and 19 assists this year for 23 points in 46 games. He has a -9 rating. This would be considered a slightly down year for Provy, but he is playing on a bad Blue Jackets team.
This goes to show that Danny Briere has definitively won the Provorov Trade. This is a huge win and should give the club confidence in Briere's abilities to move players going forward.
