Former Flyers coach a potential candidate as Flyers assistant?
As the trade rumours swirl throughout the NHL just before the trade deadline, when the season comes to an end new rumours will swirl of which coaches will be axed once the season is over.
Whether it has to do with a poor season or a number of them, or a management change even an ownership change can influence the decision on who will be behind the bench, names will begin to fly around very shortly.
One such name has been brought up a few times, former Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette. He has made the rounds around the NHL over the past number of years and he is currently the head coach of the Flyers' rival the Washington Capitals.
Must read on FlyersInsider
The rumours are strong that they feel the Capitals and Laviolette will want to part ways and he will become a hot commodity on the coaching front.
Though, his desire to remain as a coach is strong there was a rumour that he could become a candidate for an assistant job in the Flyers to help John Tortorella with the rebuild.
Now it's hard to see if this will come true as he has already been there once before, and may not want to give the reins of head coach over to someone else.
My feeling is going to be numerous head coaches available for teams to look at especially with how their playoff performance is.
We will have to see where Laviolette stands.
