Former Flyers legend gives his approval on Jones hiring.
As the NHL organizations continue to bring in the role of president of hockey operations and general manager, jobs that were once together now a part of the trend appears to be bringing in former NHL alumnus of the teams in question.
It's what happened this week when the Flyers announced they were hiring Keith Jones as their new president of hockey operations while dropping the interim tag for current General Manager Danny Briere.
The response to the Jones hiring has been positive across most of Flyers nation and throughout the NHL, one former player and legend of the Flyers Bernie Parent has sent his approval to the hiring.

It remains how Jones will handle the job and what kind of powers he will be given by Spectacor, as most Presidents of Hockey Ops have the final say on any trade, signing or draft choice.
Jones has had many years with the Flyers as in colour commentator and analyst for the Flyers. But one drawback of his resume is he does not have any NHL executive experience and has been out of the game for many years as a player.
It remains to be seen, how he will handle the job as it will be a quick turnaround and the NHL Entry Draft is just about a month away.
The NHL draft will be held on June 28th and 29th and the Flyers will hold the 7th overall selection.
