The Carolina Hurricanes were all smiles last night when their newly acquired defenseman Shayne Gostibehere notched his first goal as a Hurricane. This goal was even sweeter as it was against his former team who just moved him ... The Arizona Coyotes.

He was moved at the trade deadline for a third-round draft pick in 2026. Having been moved to the metropolitan division where his former team of seven years the Philadelphia Flyers are in, this certainly adds a little salt to the wound for Flyers fans as the trade for the Ghost to the Coyotes back in 2021 still doesn't make any sense.
The reason given by general manager Chuck Fletcher was to move salary because the Flyers were cap strapped. Having been a friendly deal of 4.5 million on the cap The Ghost should have remained as a member of the Flyers as he had given great point totals for several seasons.
The Ghost will become an unrestricted free agent this summer and at the age of 29 should still notch himself a nice contract. This season he has played 53 games, has scored eleven goals and 21 assists for 32 points and holds 28 penalty minutes.
The Flyers will see their new acquisition Brendan Lemieux when they play at home tonight against the Detroit Red Wings. Game time starts at 6:00 PM
