As cross-state rivals in the Metropolitan Division, the Flyers and the Penguins have always sparred with each other, fostering a spirited rivalry and plenty of banter between the benches.

This rivalry has been reignited as Giroux and Crosby faced off against each other while Giroux now plays for the Ottawa Senators. He has embraced a leadership and mentorship role for the younger players while representing his hometown team.
It appears that he has integrated well with the Senators, and his contribution has positively impacted their performance on the scoreboard.

In a recent matchup between the Senators and the Pittsburgh Penguins, during the middle part of the second period, with the Senators leading 3-0 but being outshot 23 to 9, both players renewed their rivalry, resulting in Crosby drawing a cross-checking penalty.
