The NHL is taking action against goaltenders who intentionally shake their helmets off of their heads to trigger a whistle during a scoring opportunity for their opponent's team.
It has happened a few times this season when goalies shake their helmets off in an attempt to halt play because of the onslaught of offence being delivered by their opponents.
Goaltender Jake Oettinger of the Dallas Stars received a 2-minute delay of game penalty last night for taking his helmet off, which caused play to stop. It's quite the controversial play, but with the NHL stating they are cracking down on goaltenders antics they can't take no second chances.
