The Maple Leafs hosted Pride Night last night against the Columbus Blue Jackets in Toronto. However, the team surprised fans by choosing not to wear any new Pride jerseys. Instead, they explained that actions speak louder than words and opted to wear LGBTQ+ Pride stickers on their helmets.

Unfortunately, not all players chose to wear the stickers. One of the Leafs' goalies, Ilya Samsonov, decided not to wear one. He was not available for comment before the game to discuss his decision. Despite this, the team's decision to host Pride Night and show support for the LGBTQ+ community is a positive step towards inclusivity in hockey.
While some fans may have been disappointed by the lack of new Pride jerseys, the team's message about the importance of actions over symbols is an important one. The Pride decals on their helmets serve as a reminder that inclusivity is not just a one-time event, but a continuous effort.
