Golden Knights' gesture unbelievably won them the game
The Knights recently won in a shootout against the Blue Jackets, 3-2. The game-winning goal was netted by a guy with just 14 career game, in Paul Cotter.
How did it come to Cotter getting the goal? Well, goaltender,
Logan Thompson, had a huge role in that.
After coming up with a big save, Thompson turned towards the bench and signaled the numbers four and three, for #43, Paul Cotter.
Apparently Thompson saw something in the opposing goalie that he knew would play to Cotter's strengths. Thompson and Cotter played together in the AHL so it makes sense for him to know his strengths and weaknesses.

Luckily for Thompson and the Knights, Cotter came up big and netted the GWG for the Knights in the 3-2 shootout victory.
Thanks to Hockey Beast, though, we know that this wasn't the first time that Thompson had shown great IQ to help his team.
Earlier this year,
Mark Stone earned a penalty shot against the Oilers. Thompson had previously played with the Oilers' goaltender,
Stuart Skinner, so he knew exactly what to do in order to help Stone score the goal.
He went up to Stone and told him to go for the five-hole. Stone asked no questions and just listened to Thompson. Following his advice, Stone netted the goal and came up big for the Knights.
I sure can see Thompson coaching once his playing career is over.
