Habs General Manager Looking At Making A Move To Fix Salary Cap Troubles

The Montreal Canadiens were one of the most active teams this off-season making numerous moves to improve after disastrous 2021-22 season.

Picking up key players like Kirby Dach, Sean Monahan and Evgeni Dadonov, along with a slew of prospects from the draft including first overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky.

However, after the recent acquisition of center Sean Monahan from the Flames and restricted free agent center Kirby Dach not signed yet many are wondering how can Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes sign Dach with no cap space.

The Canadiens will be able to put goaltender Carey Price on long term injury reserve after the unfortunate news that his career is likely over. That's a huge chunk with Price earning $10,500,000 annually.

Hughes is believed now to be trying to flip newly acquired forward Evgenii Dadonov who was traded to the Montreal Canadiens by the Vegas Golden Knights for Shea Weber.

Dadonov, a forward, had 43 points (20 goals, 23 assists) in 78 games for the Golden Knights this season. Dadonov is in the final year of the three year $15,000,000 contract he signed with the Ottawa Senators back in 2020.
