First things first, it sounds more likely that Daniel Brière becoming the full-time general manager is in sight, and Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, believes there is a good chance that the announcement could come within the next week.

As well the Philadelphia Flyers have reportedly narrowed down their search for the President of Hockey Operations position to 3-5 candidates.
On Wednesday morning, Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek, had a small segment on 32 Thoughts: The Podcast. In which they covered the news surrounding the Philadelphia Flyers and their open job in President of Hockey Operations.
There is a lot to cover and news around who the Flyers may bring into office, even Elliotte Friedman is shocked out how well the team is keeping it quiet. Especially when in the beginning of the search, it was sloppy and had names popping up left and right.

«I think the Presidents search is coming to a close I tip my cap to them, the have done a good job at keeping it quiet. Briere will have huge power in the hockey decision making part of the job»

Interim General Manager Danny Briere, will have a lot of power when it comes to the decision making regarding the hockey side of this job. Someone who the Flyers originally interviewed earlier, wasn't crazy about the idea of Danny Briere running the ship so to speak.

There have been talks about the Flyers possibly bringing in Keith Jones, as Elliotte Friedman mentioned, he may have not been a finalist but may have been interviewed by the Philadelphia Flyers. Keith Jones is a familiar voice as he currently works as the lead color commentator for Philadelphia Flyers on NBC Sports Philadelphia, and the lead "Inside-the-Glass" reporter on TNT.
«They have definitely talked about others, who have kind of been in front offices for awhile. Who have seen the way things work be with Briere to say here's how we've handled with this situation in the past... I don't know he's a finalist or anything like that, but may have been interviewed is Keith Jones. I think that's a really interesting name, but that is a name someone mentioned to me. Like Keith Jones, if you need someone who is a public face who dislikes Keith Jones.»

A couple other names were also thrown into the mix, as Doug Wilson and/or Scott Mellanby could also be in talks with the team.
These two have been on the Flyers radar, and could be two individuals to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
Doug Wilson, joined the Sharks organization as General Manager on May 13, 2003, Wilson was credited with building the Sharks into a perennially competitive team, reaching their first Stanley Cup Final in 2016.
Scott Mellanby, played a couple years in Philadelphia until the summer of 1991, when he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in a 6-player deal that included Jari Kurri going to Philadelphia (though Kurri was traded to the Los Angeles Kings the same day). Following retirement, Mellanby worked for three years in the Vancouver Canucks organization as a special consultant to general manager Mike Gillis and the hockey operations department. Mellanby then spent two years as an assistant coach with the St. Louis Blues before stepping down following the 201112 season. On May 28, 2012, Mellanby was hired by the Montreal Canadiens as Director of Player Personnel and became an assistant GM on July 30, 2014.

Last but not least, Eddie Olczyk is also a big name the Flyers could be looking at. Eddie, joined the Pittsburgh organizon to become the color commentator for the Penguins on FSN Pittsburgh. He moved from the booth to the bench and served as head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins from June 11, 2003, until December 15, 2005. Beginning with the 200607 NHL season, Olczyk was the color commentator for the Chicago Blackhawks television broadcasts, he also was the lead color commentator for NHL on NBC, and previously for the NHL on Versus; the latter later rebranded as NBCSN in 2012. On July 18, 2022, Olczyk left the Blackhawks following a contract dispute to join the broadcasting team for the Seattle Kraken.
