Here's one defenseman the Flyers could target in free agency

The right side of the defense has been an issue in Philadelphia for quite some time. This summer, we thought that Chuck Fletcher had solved the problem by acquiring Ryan Ellis and Rasmus Ristolainen.

Spoiler alert: the problem remains.

So, what can the GM do about it this summer? Well, there are some interesting candidates this summer in free agency. We don't really know what's happening with Ryan Ellis so Fletcher must have an insurance policy on the right side and the perfect guy could be Josh Manson.

He was recently traded from the Ducks to the Avalanche and he brings some grit and physicality as well as some offense from time to time. Of course, he would play on the third defensive pairing of the team, behind Ellis and Ristolainen.

The third duo was a disaster this season and the Flyers need some guys that are able to give 15 to 20 minutes of good hockey game after game. It's the case of Josh Manson.

Manson has a 4.1M$ cap hit this year, which is obviously consequent. But in the case of a departure of Ivan Provorov or Travis Sanheim, the Flyers should get some help on that front. Don't forget that Fletcher will do everything in his power to trade James Van Riemsdyk so the Flyers could have significant space under the cap this summer.

Of course, there hasn't been any rumours regarding Manson and the Flyers, but if the team has some interest in acquiring a defenseman, they should take a look at the Avalanche player.

This season, Manson has 12 points in 57 games with the Ducks and the Avalanche.
