Huge controversy involving the Maple Leafs after they kicked out a young Montreal fan of the arena

On Saturday, a young Montreal Canadiens went to Toronto to see his club battling against the Maple Leafs. During warmups, Nick Suzuki gave him a puck, but unfortunately, he wasn't able to catch it and received it directly on his lips.

Seeing that, the Canadiens' forward went into the stands to meet the kid and gave him a stick and a signed puck. However, with 10 minutes remaining in the game (which the Habs lost 3-2), the fan and his dad were kicked out of the arena because the stick was considered as a weapon. Here's the full declaration from MLSE :

The Canadiens connected with the family of the young fan and will have them as guests at the game Saturday when the Capitals come to Montreal.

Hunter will also receive a signed jersey from Nick Suzuki. This is an all-class move from the Canadiens and their young superstar Suzuki.

Was the arena staff right to tell the kid and his dad to quit the arena if they didn't want to check the stick until the end of the game?
