Blood, sweat, tears, and maybe even more blood are among the numerous things needed to win the Lord Stanley Cup trophy. But in actuality, it's sheer dedication, as teams and players put their bodies on the line throughout the course of four series battles out of seven games.

Some postseason players from the previous season battled injuries, including Chris Tanev of Calgary who played with a BROKEN RIB & more in the Flames' last playoff game, needing multiple operations. But for what are they competing? Is it the money, the fame, or the fact that their name is on the Stanley Cup? It seems that we can exclude one of those three factors, namely the financial aspect of the situation.
The Stanley Cup Champions only get $5,781,250 divided among their complete roster of twenty-three players, which is far less than you would expect from the NHL, which often awards enormous bonuses.
It, on average, amounts to $251,000 per player in bonuses; although this may sound like a lot, it is quite a contrast to the average salary of $3,000,000.
