Thursday night was a special one in Carolina as the Hurricanes not only saw their second straight win as they defeated the New Jersey Devils 3-2, but it saw the franchise honor the moms of their players with the 2024 Hurricanes Moms Trip.
Hurricane players had the opportunity to reunite with their moms who they don't get to see much during the season because of not only the crazy schedule, but with most players coming from long distances away. It also gave the moms an opportunity to see their sons play in person and interact with other moms and members of the organization.
The moment of the night came after the game as the moms were invited on the ice to participate in one of hockey's most unique traditions. The moms and Hurricane players lined up on center ice and led the Carolina crowd in the "storm surge", a chant they do after each home win.
