If it wasn't because of Ron Hextall, Cale Makar would've been a Flyer

It was expected, but the Flyers were outperformed yesterday by the Avalanche. Colorado won 6-3 thanks to a great performance (again) from defenseman Cale Makar who scored two goals.

Makar was one of the top prospect at the 2017 NHL Draft. He was selected 4th overall by the Avalanche. But I don't think that it's necessary to remind you that the Flyers had the 2nd overall pick that year and used it to select Nolan Patrick.
However, every Flyers' scouts choice was set on Makar, but Philadelphia's GM Ron Hextall really wanted Nolan Patrick. He was the only one in the Flyers' draft room who preferred Patrick.
Imagine if Makar was a Flyer? The debate around the right side of the defense would've never existed...
This season, Makar has 24 goals and 49 assists for 73 points in 61 games.
