The Philadelphia Flyers recently signed controversial defenceman Tony DeAngelo to a 2-year, $10 million dollar contract carrying an AAV of $5 million dollars.

For a right-handed defenceman, the 26-year-old was outstanding playing on the Carolina Hurricanes with 10 goals and 51 points in 64 games last season. However, with notable veterans like Brent Burns, Jeff Petry and UFA John Klingberg available, did GM Chuck Fletcher make the right decision?
TSN insider Pierre LeBrun reports that as of late, the Canes have kicked tires on both Burns and Petry as DeAngelo's replacements.

LeBrun also mentions UFA John Klingberg's departure from Dallas as a potential landing spot for either Petry or Burns.
Carolina traded DeAngelo's contract and a seventh-round pick to the Philadelphia Flyers at the draft in exchange for three draft picks.
The same picks that Fletcher is unwilling to part ways with to get rid of JVR's contract to sign Johnny Gaudreau or to sign Alex DeBrincat, yet he gave up five picks for Ristolainen and DeAngelo.
Surely if one of Petry, Burns or Klingberg gets moved or signed for less, we must admit Fletcher was fleeced.
