Is this the worst coaching tenure in Flyers history?

Given this season's shortcomings, it's easy to point fingers at a whole bunch of different people. Maybe the coaches, the GM, the owners, even the players themselves who didn't meet standards.

At the end of the day, the Flyers had to do a coaching change. Mike Yeo undoubtably inherited a team who had lost faith in the old management and stopped playing for their former coach. If Vigneault is the issue, then how comes this year's team has one of the worst powerplay stats ever?

The Flyers power play under AV/Therrien had a 13.4 % efficiency. Under Yeo/Williams, it was 16.6% and under Yeo/Torchetti its 9.1%. Horrific numbers.

Some attributing factors to this could be the lack of starpower and the departure of Giroux and absence of Hayes, Couturier etc. Yet, going 8 for 87 attempts is probably another issue. Perhaps having Yandle on the first unit instead of Cam York helped that fact.

This season, the Flyers went 27/214 with a man advantage, good for 12.7 percent and dead last in the league. Assuming the team didn't let any shorthanded goals in, this is 374 minutes of time on the powerplay without converting. Divided by 60, that's 6.23 games. Obviously, this is only an estimate, as some of these penalties could sometimes be consecutive.

At least the Flyers' penalty kill has a 76.3% efficiency, good for 23rd best in the league. Which isn't all too bad. Carter Hart bailed the team out on that stat line.

On the bright side, the only way to go from here is up.
