On Monday, the IIHF finally decided on a ruling regarding Ivan Fedotov and his contract with CSKA.

The IIHF ruled in favor of the Flyers, resulting in the Russian goaltender's NHL contract be valid moving forward. However, it remains highly uncertain if Fedotov will be actually allowed to leave CSKA Moscow of the KHL and play in North America this season. Per the IIHF, Fedotov violated the transfer regulations by signing a two-year deal with CSKA Moscow in July.
Due to that, Fedotov, will be looking at a four-month long suspension that restricts him from playing in official national and international games from Sept. 1 to until Jan. 1 of 2024.
In an interview on Monday, KHL Vice President Valery Kamensky, was asked about his thoughts on the Ivan Fedotov decision; he was not pleased at all.

Valery Kamensky, actually said he will be cutting ties with the IIHF until Russia/Moscow is able to play in international competitions again. (Russia was banned from competitions following the Russian invasion of Ukraine).
"The decision is wrong. We must suspend cooperation with the IHF until we are allowed to participate in international competitions. You need to develop your hockey and negotiate directly with NHL clubs. Both the KHL and the Russian Ice Hockey Federation should have direct contact with the NHL." Kamensky said in an interview with SportExpress reporter Sofia Gretskaya.
Fedotov's KHL team, CSKA Moskva, has since stated that they believe the ruling is "biased" and they will be challenging it in international instances. The team claims that Fedotov is still at training camp with the KHL team, he is still on the roster but has yet to be seen since yesterday. They also have "no doubts" that Fedotov will take part in the 23-24 season apart of CSKA Moskva.

Now after the harsh claims thrown out by the KHL. The IIHF of course rejected them, regarding that Fedotov's contract with the Philadelphia Flyers was invalid, and CSKA Moskva is now banned for a year from International transfers after Monday's ruling.
