It was a bit of a surprise when the Flyers organization announced that they have hired former Flyers star John LeClair to a special advisor role for the new management team that has been rolling out for the past month.

This hire comes on the heels of the recent appointment of Keith Jones as president, Danny Briere as general manager on a full-time basis and Patrick Sharp in any assistant general manager role. Ownership has entrusted former Flyers alums with creating a winning culture for a city and organization in need.
After LeClair was hired, the media learner he held a second job as head coach of 3ice. This league is designed for three-on-three hockey all the time. Eight teams in this league are held by former NHL legends as head coaches. Craig Patrick, former Penguins general manager and 3ICE commissioner, recruited Leclair. As of now, LeClair appears to be juggling his new role with the Flyers and his job with 3ICE.
«I think I'll have enough time,» LeClair said. «A lot of the hard work as far as putting your team together for 3ICE is done, now just about going to the games and doing all we can to win and make sure we are one of four teams that go to Philly in August.»

It remains to be seen what Leclair will bring to the Flyers in terms of a management role besides the fact his insight will be used to help construct this new roster.
