John Stevens gained recognition for being drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1994.

Despite playing professionally for 14 seasons, he only participated in 53 NHL games, with just 9 of them being with the Flyers.
Unfortunately, he had to retire in 1999 due to an eye injury.
Vegas assistant John Stevens deserves another head coaching opportunity

However, seven years later, he returned to the Flyers organization as head coach after Ken Hitchcock's dismissal.
His second season as head coach proved to be his most successful, with 95 points in 42 games.
In 2017, he found success once again coaching the Los Angeles Kings to the playoffs.
He has since worked as an assistant coach with the Dallas Stars and the Vegas Golden Knights, where he currently serves as Bruce Cassidy's assistant coach. Given the remarkable success of the Golden Knights, it is fair to consider if he deserves another head coaching opportunity if the team wins the cup.
