When it comes to hard a** coaches there's no one that's harder on his players then the controversial Coach John Tortorella. We've heard the stories from past players who played under Tortorella like, Pierre Luc-Dubois, Patrik Laine, just to name a couple, Tortorella demands his players to play up to his expectations or they don't play.
Last night the Flyers were in New Jersey to face the Devils and one player wasn't playing up to Tortorella's standards and was benched.
That player was Flyers forward Kevin Hayes. Hayes was benched for more than 25 minutes after giving up the puck on a turnover that led to a two on one opportunity for the Devils.
Hayes also took a hooking penalty that led to a Devils goal. This wasn't the first time Hayes was benched this season, despite the 30 year-old forward not having a bad year with 9 goals, and 20 assists, in 31 games.
