The Philadelphia Flyers injury woo's continued when forward James Van Riemsdyk broke his thumb while blocking a shot a week or so ago, since, no other injuries have been suffered (knock on wood), but JVR was added to the list of many others that are injured.
That spot was filled by the signing of Kiefer Bellows, son of Brian Bellows, who was a former first round-19th overall draft pick, but failed in the New York Islanders organization, where he was drafted.
Chuck Fletcher signing Bellows was a low risk/high reward situation, the reward? The Flyers find a forward who has grit (Bellows) and he earns a full-time spot within the Flyers lineup until the teams injured forwards return. The risk? A wasted contract spot filled up, and he remains benched.
