John Tortorella Voices Some Displeasure Over Chuck Fletcher Being Fired
Flyers head coach John Tortorella has much to be thankful for. Having a few Jack Adams trophies coupled with the Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning, he has had an excellent hockey career as head coach. He also landed a gig many coaches would like to have under their belt which is being the head coach of the Flyers.
He was asked his thoughts about recently fired general manager Chuck Fletcher which torts gave him a load of runway and complete respect for the hockey executive.
Torts mentioned that this year's edition of the Flyers did not go as expected, with numerous players out for long-term injury And that he took a few hits from previous general managers which made his record look poor. Torts stated that he is the reason why he is coaching the Flyers and that he loved working for him.

As a nice tribute that it is, the Flyers are in a state of disarray. The team doesn't have a direction whatsoever with contracts that are almost impossible to get rid of without eating salary which will hinder their ability to rebuild.
He also has players that no one in the NHL wants and with reports surfacing that Daniel Briere will become the next permanent general manager of the Flyers it's going to be very interesting to see how he handles this and how he will move forward.
The Flyers plan to hire a new president who will most likely see the overall operations of the team so all decisions will probably end up in that person's lap.
