There are many qualities that are associated with John Tortorella. Many people across the league including fans, pundits and even some managements don't care for what Torts has to say and how he says it.
But one quality he does have, is he will defend a player or another member of the league who has been ripped in the media on a bogus claim.
After the Flyers win against the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 in a shootout, Torts was asked a question during the media scrum regarding the Kevin Hayes rumour that was told yesterday.
The rumor is stating that Kevin Hayes was influential in the decision of cutter Gauthier deciding not to stay with the Flyers organization and wanted to be traded.

As the question was asked, Torts went in full attack mode and defended his former player while giving a scathing view on what had happened.
In the recent light of what happened with Connor Bedard and his family and Corey Perry, rumors and influence like this are toxic to the NHL. Hayes came out earlier today and was stating that he had been receiving death threats, people hoping he was dead and leaving disgusting comments regarding his deceased brother.
Shortly before Torts's video was released, Cutter Gauthier finally decided to say something regarding this rumour and decided to clear the air once and for all.
It's safe to say that people need to have more integrity with what they have to post and that fact checking, and more reliable sources are needed to prevent these kinds of terrible things from being said.
