Leaked blockbuster trade that fell through between the Canadiens and Flyers

On Monday the Philadelphia Flyers unloaded top prospect Cutter Gauthier after the Boston College and Team USA standout informed the team he did not want to be a part of the Flyers organization. The Flyers as it appears got a great return on investment as they landed former number six overall pick in defenseman Jamie Drysdale.
After the trade was completed, it came out that the Flyers and the Montreal Canadiens almost had a deal for Gauthier, but the deal ultimately fell through as Gauthier became a Duck.
During the 2023 NHL Draft as the Flyers continued to keep it on the inside that Gauthier wasn't interested in becoming a Flyers, GM Danny Briere got on the phone with Habs GM Kent Hughes in an attempt to exchange Gauthier for the number 5th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
Hughes refused as the Flyers went on to select Matvei Michkov and eventually trade Gauthier for Drysdale.
