It's no secret that former Flyers forward Zack MacEwen is renowned for his physicality and overall toughness in the league. He is currently in his seventh year in the NHL and is now playing for the Ottawa Senators, marking his fourth team.
Tonight, as the Ottawa Senators faced the Montreal Canadiens, MacEwen found himself on the receiving end of significant animosity from Montreal fans. This shift in sentiment occurred after he delivered a blindside hit to the Canadiens' young defenseman, Kaden Guhle.
David Savard, a player for the Canadiens, came to Guhle's defence, confronting MacEwen and making it clear that such a hit was unnecessary. Consequently, MacEwen was penalized with a two-minute roughing and a two-minute boarding penalty for his actions. Montreal fans expressed their strong disapproval of the hit.

Even fans took to social media to express their displeasure with the incident.
The good news for the Montreal Canadiens is that their defenseman did not sustain any major injuries as a result of the hit. However, this is not the first time, nor will it likely be the last, that MacEwen finds himself in the penalty box for such plays.
