With Flyers top goalie Carter Hart most likely seeing his time with the Flyers come to an end for the time being, the Flyers will have to shift their focus to the future of the orange and black between the pipes. With many top prospects at the goalie position showing great development, the Flyers got more good news this week as one of their top prospects made a return.
2023 second round pick Carson Bjarnason is just an 18-year-old playing in the WHL, but make no mistake Bjarnson has turned heads with the Brandon Wheat Kings. However, over the past month Bjarnson has missed significant time with an undisclosed lower-body injury. On Tuesday, Bjarnson made his return to the ice as Flyers fans can now breathe a sigh of relief.
Bjarnson was a full participant in practice with the Kings and could potentially make his next start as soon as Feb. 2 which is the Kings next game.
In 28 starts with the Kings, Bjarnson has an impressive 15-9-3 record with a .901 save percentage and a 3.22 GAA while recording a shutout under his belt. Bjarnson is gaining great experience in the WHL and is expected to join the Flyers for their developmental camp this summer in Voorhees.
With Hart gone, could Bjarnson be the savior at the goalie position the Flyers desperately need?
