As the Flyers season continues to go in reverse as they head into the second half of their season losing both five straight games and their star goalie Carter Hart for what might be forever, a former Flyers goalie prospect is lighting it up with his current team and making the Flyers wish they kept him. Not only is this goalie performing well, but his performance this season has the entire NHL on notice.

On Tuesday, former Flyers goalie and current Detroit Red Wings goalie Alex Lyon was among the goalies named Goalies of the Week in the NHL. Lyon, along with Joey Daccord, Petr Mrazek, and Jacob Markstrom were named goalies of the week as the NHL announced on Twitter.
To make matters even more painful, the game that probably secured the award for Lyon came against the Flyers as he recorded a 30 save shutout as the Red Wings cruised to a 3-0 victory against the Flyers.

This season Lyon has been among the NHL's best, as he has the fourth best save percentage with a .924 save percentage as well as a 7-2-1 record in his last ten games with a 2.56 GAA.
Lyon was an undrafted free agent coming out of Yale but quickly gained the attention of Flyers fans with his performances with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms from 2016-2021.
Lyon's best season as a Flyers prospect came in 2017 where he recorded 16 regular season wins and six playoff wins with a .913 save percentage and a 2.75 GAA.
With Carter Hart most likely no longer a part of the Flyers and Samuel Ersson emerging into the number one role, having someone like Lyon would be extremely advantageous for the Flyers organization.
