With a record start to the season, the New Jersey Devils broke their thirteen-game winning run at home last night. Jack Hughes, a rising star for the Devils, expressed his desire that the team will continue to be on a "heater".

Unfortunately, the Toronto Maple Leafs had other ideas and dashed their ambitions of fourteen straight victoriesor did the officials? Ironically, anytime a team's coach challenges something, a phone call is made to the NHL's headquarters, which just so happens to be in Toronto. This is the case with three goals that the New Jersey Devils scored. The Devils supporters had had enough during the third period, and while they had every right to feel that way, what they did next was unnecessary and destructive to the Toronto Maple Leafs players.
Marner, who was one of the few Maple Leafs to actually get struck by somethingapparently a bottle of some sortwas not happy about it since it required the Toronto Maple Leafs to take a 10-minute break in their locker room and leave the floor so that security and Devils supporters could settle matters. When Toronto Maple Leafs reporter Mark Masters questioned Marner about how he felt as Devils supporters were hurling trash, Marner responded as follows:
''It's full beers. It's dangerous. We're not looking for that. We're not seeing it coming. Dodge a couple. It's a dangerous thing. I don't know why it's our fault. They're throwing it to try and hit us. It's the first i've ever seen.''
