Matvei Michkov could have a spot in the lineup, but he is holding back due to other reasons
There's some concerning news afoot in Russia, surprise, surprise! The topic of the article this time deals with our 7th overall pick, Matvei Michkov, who has recently returned to the KHL to play for SKA St. Peterburg.
There has been a lot of KHL news covered by the Twitter account Hockey News Hub this season, and Michkov could have more opportunities to play elsewhere in the KHL this season, as the Twitter account highlighted. He did not sign with HC Sochi, however, as he had personal reasons behind not doing so.
If he were in Sochi - he'd get more minutes guaranteed, but he doesn't wanna play there because everything there reminds him as his father.

Michkov knew that the SKA St. Petersburg team would be deep with veterans returning to the fold this season. Despite this, he still chose to sign there, knowing that he would not have the same opportunities as he would have elsewhere.
As for why he did not sign at the Sochi Club, it is mainly due to the fact that it reminded him of the loss of his father that he recently suffered in Sochi and he was not able to follow through with it.
In light of how long the grieving process and mourning process can take, I can understand the personal reasons for this.
I'm sure the time he spent in SKA has been disappointing after all of the turmoil it has gone through, but this adds a lot more context to what is happening in SKA at the moment.
