As the Philadelphia Flyers prepare to embark on a new NHL season, their General Manager, Danny Briere is diligently working to enhance his team's performance, even before the season commences.

It is his responsibility as the general manager to identify players and talent that will bolster the team's prospects of reaching the playoffs and, ultimately, making a run for the Stanley Cup.
These aspirations, however, remain in the future, as the Flyers currently find themselves in a rebuilding phase. Part of this reconstruction process involves acquiring talent from other teams that may be grappling with salary cap issues or players who are reluctant to re-sign with their current teams.
As reported yesterday, the Ottawa Senators and Shane Pinto have hit an impasse in their contract negotiations.

Today, Anthony Di Marco tweeted a Sportsnet update concerning Michael Andlauer's takeover of the Senators and the Shane Pinto situation.
It seems that Pinto has a preference for staying in Ottawa, and the Senators are eager to retain his services. Nevertheless, there may come a point where the Senators are forced to part ways with him due to their inability to secure him on a long-term contract.
This presents an opportune moment for Briere to take action and utilize some of his available salary cap space to acquire this young talent. As I articulated in my article yesterday, I believe Pinto would be a valuable asset for the Flyers, potentially providing an upgrade in their second or third center position.
If the Flyers are willing to absorb a less favourable contract to facilitate this deal, they should proceed accordingly.
These are precisely the types of opportunities the Flyers cannot afford to overlook. In my opinion, Pinto could sign a bridge deal with the Flyers, affording him two years to demonstrate his value to the organization and potentially secure a more substantial, long-term contract with a more generous payday.
