Now that the dust has settled and the real work has begun with the Flyers and their rebuilding phase, it's safe to say that General Manager Danny Briere has done a good job running this team.

As a first-time GM of a team that has a massive market in the United States and Canada, the pressure was certainly quite high to make the right decisions as the Flyers were emerging from their previous regime under former General Manager Chuck Fletcher.
Like any new GM tasked with cleaning up the mess left by the previous administration, Briere had to make some tough decisions on players, whether to keep or trade them potentially at a low value. During his first press conference as GM, he never minced words about the idea of a rebuild and conveyed to the media and the fan base that this move was necessary for the Flyers to regain competitiveness.

Cutting away the deadwood and clearing the team of unwanted cap space and underperforming or aging players, Briere is taking the necessary steps to address the team's needs.
As with any rebuild, there will be a significant turnover of players entering and leaving the organization as they strive to find the right fit for their vision of the team.
Bringing in players like Mark Staal, Ryan Poehling, and Cal Petersen provides insurance for Briere, allowing him to either retain them or trade them at the deadline for more assets. While it was a tough decision to move Ivan Provorov, it was necessary, as he had been a lightning rod for controversy earlier this year. Helge Grans is expected to become a key player for the Flyers shortly.
I also give Briere full marks for his drafting, especially considering the recent draft which took place in the last two weeks. He took a chance on drafting Matvei Michkov, who will remain in Russia for the next three seasons as per his contract with the KHL.
Briere continues to stock the team with promising prospects, providing hope for the Flyers in the coming years.
Overall, Briere is doing what's needed and he needs to continue to maintain this level of performance.
