"I asked Bettman if Provorov and the Rangers opting out of Pride nights, coupled with the DEI job fair getting DeSantised was sending a "Hockey Isn't In Fact For Everyone" message. He said the league has its values but individuals must be respected. He didn't address the job fair.
When @kevin_mcgran
follows up, Bettman says not supporting a particular charity doesn't necessarily make one a bigot.
"We're trying to be open, welcoming and inclusive," Bettman said. Then adds you have to be "tolerant, to a point, of various views."
The NHL has been trying hard to promote their "Hockey is for everyone" but the LGBTQ community has stated themselves they have felt the NHL hasn't made them feel included after the decisions by Provorov and the Rangers. In my opinion I don't think anyone's sexuality belongs in the game, could that be whether that be you gay, straight, or whatever it shouldn't matter. What does is your passion for the game that's what it should really be about.
