The NHL is considered as one of the best sports leagues ever, but with all the fast-paced action comes a lot of on-ice injuries. Sadly, the Calgary Flames recently reported that their top defenseman had suffered an off-ice injury and is grateful to be alive.

Rasmus Andersson, a defenseman with the Calgary Flames, was injuredafter being hit by a moving car when he was riding a scooter to dinner in Detroit. The Calgary Flames have issued the following statement:
At approximately 6:00 p.m. ET, Wednesday, February 8 in Detroit, MI, while riding a scooter on his way to dinner, Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson was struck by a vehicle. Andersson was taken to a local hospital for a full battery of tests before being released last night.

Andersson is doing well, and he will remain with the team. He is listed as day-to-day.

Although Andersson has been the Calgary Flames' lone offensive-defensementhroughout their saddenedsuccess thus far this season, that is not what the team's worried about right now.
We would want to send Rasmus our best wishes and prayers. There is an update from the Calgary Flames:
«He's doing well and is in good spirits. He's very lucky - it certainly could have been a lot worse. He's a little rattled. We'll list him as day to day. He won't play tonight and then we'll see. No injuries we are overly concerned about but we will see.»
Thankfully no injuries were drawn from this incident, and we wish Rasmus the best moving forward.
