The "hot mics," which occasionally feature officials and even players swearing at one another, are the funniest topics in the NHL right now because to all the new technology.
Even a referee who admitted to giving a penalty to a side he didn't like on purpose was caught on hot mic video and was later fired!
Additionally, the hot mic has recorded instances in which a player would probably face a lengthy suspension for using the same same remarks, but refs have it easier it seems.
