NHL Top Prospect Having Issues With His Team and Is Set to Hit The Free Agent Market
The Buffalo Sabres have been remarkably strong lately; they now�compare to�the Carolina Hurricanes and several other top-ranked clubs in goal differential (+17).
It appears that their many years of "tanking" and finishing last every year have paid off, but a new development raises the possibility that their draft strategy may have to be�improved moving forward.
The Buffalo Sabres have a DEEP prospect pool, but one specific positional category is giving them trouble. Erik Portillo, a goalie that the Sabres selected in the 2019 draft, is regrettably the outlier among the organization since being drafted three years ago.
It'll be interesting to see where Portillo ends up as his days in University Hockey are nearly numbered, but it seems as if he'll explore the free agent market in hopes for a new organization.
