As the war in Ukraine continues, so do the sanctions. Yesterday, the NHL has officially announced that they are cutting all ties between them and the Russian Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
A memo was sent to all the general managers of NHL teams instructing them to "immediately cease all dealings [direct or indirect] with the KHL and KHL Clubs [and all representatives of both], as well as with player agents who are based in and continue to do business in Russia."
This will not prevent any teams from signing Russian player (free agents) but it will make the task that much harder as they would need to inquire trough the Central Registry to determine the situation regarding KHL's players contracts. Furthermore, the NHL has announced the cutting of all business ties with Russia as well, this includes sponsorship agreement.
