Over the past five months, the realization that Ivan Provorov would no longer be a Philadelphia Flyer had started to sink in among the fan base. Reports kept surfacing about the Flyers' intention to trade Provorov, who had become embroiled in controversy after refusing to wear a pride-themed practice jersey during warm-ups.

Fast forward to this summer, and newly appointed general manager Danny Breer finally made the long-awaited trade. Provorov was sent in a three-way deal to the Columbus Blue Jackets, and in return, the Flyers received a package of prospects and picks from both the Los Angeles Kings and the Blue Jackets.
One of the prospects acquired in this deal is 21-year-old Swedish defenseman Helge Grans. Hailing from Sweden, Grans stands at 6 feet 3 inches and weighs 205 pounds. He was selected in the second round, 35th overall, in the 2020 NHL draft. Recently, he showcased his skills at the Flyers' practice center.
According to eliteprospects.com, Grans is an aggressive defenseman with excellent skating ability, reach, and an active stick. In the 2022-2023 season, he played 59 games for the Ontario Reign, scoring two goals, providing seven assists for a total of 9 points, and accumulating 22 penalty minutes.
Grans is the kind of prospect that the Flyers needed, although it remains to be seen whether he will make the lineup this season or the next. However, it is highly likely that he will participate in the training camp and may spend some time in Lehigh Valley.
