New Flyers management expresses their thoughts on the new era.
Well, the wait is over for Flyers Nation and the NHL with the Flyers unveiling their new management team yesterday. The Flyers decided to hire former NHL and Flyers alumnus Keith Jones as President of Hockey Operations. They also have decided to remove the interim tag from General Manager Danny Briere's position.
Both men have expressed their sincere gratitude to the Flyers organization and have extremely high hopes and ideas on how to get this organization back on track to their winning ways once again. It's been far too long for Flyers Nation to see this kind of transition and become one of the powerhouse teams of the NHL.

With the Flyers in their current state, this is one of the most daunting tasks in franchise history. The roster construction and the salary cap problems they face are enormous and it's going to take some very creative thinking and outside-the-box ideas to try to shed some of these contracts, draft properly with the number of picks they have accumulated over the past two seasons and develop the new talent to become regulars on the team and make an impact.
The good news for Jonesy and Briere is that there's some talent in the system which will help alleviate some of the pressure. With head coach John Tortorella alongside this management team and his vast hockey knowledge of players and systems, it certainly gives the Flyers an interesting look.
The two men do not have much time to settle into their new jobs with the NHL draft approaching rapidly which will be held on June 28th and 29th.
