There was a time many decades ago when the Philadelphia Flyers were known as the Broad St. bullies. This aggressive style of play caused the Flyers to rack up numerous penalty minutes very quickly during the 1972-73 season. Many teams feared this style and the Flyers were quite successful at it.

Fast forward to the 2022-2023 season, and it appears that the Flyers are returning to their roots of toughness.
Throughout his career as a head coach, John Tortorella has always been a teacher of defensive first hockey and protecting your teammates. This has certainly been prevalent this season with the Flyers as they are one of the highest-penalized teams in the league.

With the idea of fighting diminishing throughout the NHL, it's interesting to see that has returned and back to the area and team that made it part of their game so many years ago.
