In tonight's game against the Anaheim Ducks, one of his former stops along the way to Philadelphia, Nicolas Deslauriers reaches a career milestone of 600 NHL games played.
In the NHL, teams have changed their structures to play more skilled positions, and have teams like the Vegas Golden Knights, roll four legitimate lines on the ice every night. Deslauriers is one of the remaining heavyweights in the league.

The fact that Deslauriers survived 600 games in the NHL's dog-eat-dog league is a testament to his survival.
Deslaurier has also earned the love of head coach John Tortorella, who says he helps new players adjust to the NHL while his play evokes an older NHL where there was always a policeman on the ice.
John Tortorella on the value of Nuc Deslauriers:
"You guys don't know half of it, what he does in the locker room, with the kids, understanding what it is to be a pro. Yeah he's a throwback right? He's part of the game that I think we have forgotten."
Deslauriers started his hockey career as an offensive defenseman and has come a long way from his origins in Quebec, to now suiting up with the Broad St Bullies and calling back to the Bullies themselves, as Deslauriers is one tough guy on the ice.
