Doug Armstrong and the St. Louis Blues are wasting no time this offseason as they strive to strengthen their team and make a strong comeback in the upcoming 2023-24 season. Reports indicate that the general manager has expressed keen interest in acquiring Scott Laughton from the Philadelphia Flyers.

According to Frank Seravalli, Danny Briere declined a substantial trade offer for Laughton, which included this season's 25th or 29th overall pick and a future second-round pick. Given the Blues' abundance of high draft picks in the coming years, they have the leverage to propose such deals, particularly if they are not looking to initiate a complete rebuild.
Seravalli mentioned Armstrong's appreciation for Laughton during the World Championships, Armstrong coached Laughton.
The Flyers' forward has garnered significant attention this offseason due to Philadelphia's intention to rebuild. Laughton, a centerman, boasts a three-year contract remaining with a reasonable $3 million AAV and lacks trade protection. Coming off a career year with 18 goals, 43 points, and an average ice time of 18:17 per game, Laughton has proven his worth.
Laughton's physicality, strong work ethic, and versatility on special teams make him an attractive asset. The Blues, with their inconsistent and uncertain forward group entering the offseason, would greatly benefit from a player of Laughton's caliber. His presence would stabilize their lineup and bolster their chances of returning to playoff contention.
