Over the last few months, the Ottawa Senators have remained in the news with the impending sale of the team to a new ownership group. Speculation has been running rampant on who may be the new owner including Hollywood superstar Ryan Reynolds.

That has not stopped general manager Pierre Dorion from making trades to help his rebuilding franchise. Yesterday, Dorion made a trade to acquire Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun.
The Senators sent over their first-round draft pick in 2023, a conditional second-round selection in 2024 which was previously acquired by the capitals and a second second-round pick in 2026. Ottawa's first-round selection in 2023 is top-five protected which means that if the senators flounder and finish in the bottom 5 the pick will be moved to the next year.
It was reported by TSN 1200 that Dorion stated that he owed something to the players to help with their playoff push and he also made a promise to former Flyers forward Claude Giroux that he would get something completed.
With Dorion's excellent stock of young players, and a new ownership group who should have deep pockets going forward the senator should have a window of success within the next few seasons while becoming a playoff and potentially Stanley Cup contender.
