The Philadelphia Flyers made a surprising move on Saturday night, signing 21-year-old goaltender Aleksei Kolosov to a three-year entry-level contract. The signing came as a surprise to many, as it was expected that Kolosov would re-sign with his KHL team, Dinamo Minsk.
However, the young netminder will now likely join the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the AHL.
This signing was influenced by the Flyers missing out on another goaltending prospect, Ivan Fedotov, who chose to remain in the KHL. With a strong prospect pool in net, it remains to be seen what Flyers GM Danny Briere has planned, including the future of Felix Sandstrom.
