It is no surprise that the Philadelphia Flyers have struggled to bring Lord Stanley back to broad street.

The last time the Stanley Cup actually even got a glimpse of the orange and black was in 1975. When the Flyers won back-to-back championships in 1974-1975. The Flyers would be the first of the six-team expansion to win hardware, and were the fastest expansion team ever to win a Stanley Cup. Until just recently the Vegas Golden Knights snapped that record.
Now that the Stanley Cup window has closed with the firing of Chuck Fletcher. The Flyers are looking to start a fresh new chapter under Danny Briere, with that the team will need to go through some more rocky seasons. And no I don't mean Rocky Balboa. Meaning the team may tack on a few more years to their Stanley Cup drought, which currently sits at 48-years-long.
48 years is pretty crazy to think about when you look back and see how much the game has changed. The Flyers will be celebrating their 50th anniversary since winning back-to-back championships but with nothing to show for it since, it may be over looked.

This long drought that orange and black have faced is actually the third longest in the national hockey league (NHL). Right behind both the Vancouver Canucks and Buffalo Sabres, who are tied with a 52-year-old drought, and of course the Toronto Maple Leafs, with the longest drought currently in the league at 56 years.
To no prevail, the Philadelphia Flyers have a longer Stanley Cup drought than the Arizona Coyotes (43 years). All though, the Flyers do have the Coyotes beat on more Cups.

It's gonna be a tough hill to climb back up into championship status but hopefully the Matvei Michkov era can bring the Flyers back.
