As the Flyers season continues to evolve, one player's trade value has intrigued me. The trade rumors throughout the NHL state that Kevin Hayes could be made available for teams in a playoff push. There is one caveat, his contract, and his cap hit.

Hayes, who is in the middle of his seven years $50 million contract karma holds a cap hit of $7.142 million. After this season he still holds three more years in term. that's a hard cap hit for any team to take especially with his questionable defensive play which is necessary during a playoff and Stanley Cup run.
It stated, that if the Flyers are willing to retain 2 to $3 million in cap hit, his trade value would spike much higher. that would certainly put several teams in contention for his services and he would give a scoring threat that some teams lack.
Teams like the Colorado Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leafs, and even the New Jersey Devils could benefit from Hayes. Flyers will be buyers and sellers this upcoming trade deadline, and the Flyers' recent great play certainly complicates things.
I do feel the Flyers require a major retool or even rebuild as it's been stated to make this team stronger for years to come. Moving Hayes would certainly help with that goal as it would clear up vital cap space.
